What Happened to Amelia?

Sure, history can be a tough sell for some kids today — so many names and dates, and so few 3-D graphics. But when that history is also a mystery — well, suddenly the subject seems a lot more exciting. The creative team at Imaginary Theatre Company certainly thinks so. In its new play, Amelia Earhart, details of the aviatrix's famous disappearance are revealed piece by piece thanks to an inquisitive reporter working to uncover what really happened. Recommended for kids ages nine to eleven, the play will bring alive the 1920s and '30s through the period's headlines, music and more. Like spinach hidden in a brownie, it's a good-for-you history lesson wrapped in a fun-for-you treat. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday (March 18 through March 28) at the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue; 314-746-4599 or www.mohistory.org) as part of its Performing Arts Series. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased by calling 314-361-9017.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: March 18. Continues through March 28, 2010
