'Tis the Season

Man, that was a ridiculous winter, wasn't it? So many gray days, so few happy warm ones sprinkled in here and there — all in all it was a tough season to get through. Even folks who typically don't suffer from seasonal affective disorder were feeling its depressive effects and moping around like the rest of us. But now, in the second week of March, things are starting to look up. We know the end of this dreariness is in sight — but we're not quite there yet. We need a bit of an extra push to get us over this early-spring hump. Or maybe we just need an excuse to shop. Fortunately, the Indie Craft Revolution is this weekend, providing both an opportunity to practice some retail therapy and a chance to give a bit of an economic boost to local craftspeople. The St. Louis Craft Mafia has organized this shopportunity, happening at the St. Louis Artists' Guild (2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton), which is open for crafty, cool business from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (March 13 and 14). Expect to browse goodies such as colorful Twisted Handmade jewelry crafted out of old telephone wire, PearlMoon Press' stunning stationary and Jools Magools' lovely kitchen items. Admission to the craft fair is free; visit www.revolutioncraftshow.com to see the complete list of vendors.
