Historically, elves are pretty wily creatures. They're small, making it easier for them to sneak around; they're pretty cute, giving them an edge during cookie negotiations; and they're seemingly magical — always a bonus. You know, there really aren't many differences between elves and your small, cute kiddos, which is why members of the latter group will likely be thrilled to pieces to see Mischievous Elf, a holiday production put on by Piwacket Theatre for Children. At 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 17, and noon Saturday, December 19, the company presents a tale of hope about a naughty little elf and...well, you'll just have to catch the play to see how it all turns out! Tickets to Mischievous Elf cost $12 to $15, and all performances are held at the Black Cat Theatre (2810 Sutton Boulevard, Maplewood; 314-781-8300 or www.blackcattheatre.org).
