Seven Year Ditch

After seven years of marriage, Cass has discovered something so shocking about her husband, Kip, that she dumps him and runs for Niagara Falls. Her plan is to live the life she's always wanted — she has a lengthy list of tasks to accomplish, including learning Swedish — instead of continuing the humdrum life she's shared with Kip. Part of this new life involves acquiring a sidekick — the hard-drinking, death-seeking Lois, abandoned by her own husband — and finding a soulmate, who may or may not be Captain Mike, pilot of the sightseeing ship Maid of the Mist. But Kip won't let Cass go quietly, and he sets a pair of cut-rate detectives on her trail. What does it all mean? Here on the border of two countries, where developments both large and small take on special significance in Cass' journey of self-fulfillment, some crazy shit happens. That's the Wonder of the World. David Lindsay-Abaire's frenetic comedy about a woman on the verge of ... something. Happiness? Maybe. Surreal experiences, definitely. The Orange Girls present Wonder of the World at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (September 25 through October 11) at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-520-9557 or www.orangegirls.org). Tickets are $18 to $20.
