It's Thanksgiving -- On Ice!

Today is the day of thanks -- it’s also a day of excessive eating, and middling-to-bad football games. But after you dine on the greatest of all the holidays’ dinners, why not get a little exercise? You’re going to need it after three pieces of pie, my friend. It may sound insane considering everything that’s in your belly, but what could be better exercise than ice skating? You may need someone to tie your skates for you, and you may be leery of falling down (aim for the butt, not the gut, in that eventuality), but once you get a little speed going, your extra weight should provide enough momentum to keep you skating without actually moving your feet. One or three strong strides, and you’re good for at least a lap. The Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park (400 Jefferson Drive; 314-361-0613 or www.steinbergskatingrink.com) is open from 10 a.m. to midnight today, allowing you time for a post-dinner nap if you like. Admission is $5.50 and $6.50, and you can rent skates for an additional $3. The rink is open daily through Sunday, February 28.
