This'll Be Hot

While fashion is certainly a matter of personal taste, the inspiration for your style has to come from somewhere. Whether you're more interpretive and see clothing in the delicate curvature of a flower petal or the poof of a cloud, or if you just pop into the thrift store and grab something cheap, you make style choices every day — that is, unless you're a nudist, and hey, good for you if so. HotCity Theatre's Hot-Fashion 2009 event might not inspire you, the naked folks, but this fundraiser should keep those who are generally in favor of clothing entertained. A handful of local designers' lines will be featured — Melissa Rae Brown, Stephanie Asbed and Carol Ivcich, and Paul Gibson all contribute to the show — and food and drinks will be enjoyed by all. Admission to the event costs $30 to $50, and there are a limited number of $15 standing-room tickets available; to purchase tickets, the sales of which support the theater company's upcoming season, call 314-289-4063 or visit www.hotcitytheatre.org. Things get fashionable at 8 p.m. at the Kranzberg Arts Center (501 North Grand Boulevard), and it goes without saying that you should dress to impress.
