Laugh on the Outside

The kempt grounds of Laumeier Sculpture Park (12580 Rott Road, Sunset Hills; 314-821-1209 or www.laumeier.org) really are an example of the great outdoors — too bad these aren't the outdoors to which John Candy and Dan Aykroyd retreated for a fun vacation, you know, the one that turned out to be anything but. Be reminded of how much you love 1988's The Great Outdoors, and come to the park for a free screening of the comedy at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 5; Hudson & the Hoo Doo Cats get the crowd warmed up at 7 p.m. This concert and film kick off Laumeier's annual Music + Movies series, with installments scheduled each Friday through the end of June (Kung Fu Panda screens next week). Concessions will be sold, but picnic baskets and coolers are welcome (leave the glass containers at home). And note: If there's rain on Friday, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday.
