Back in the Saddle

Get on your bike and ride

What do you do for an encore after you've driven around the world from London to New York via the awkward eastern passage across Eurasia and North America? If you're Ewan McGregor or Charley Boorman, you take the Long Way Down from John O'Groats, Scotland, to South Africa by motorcycle. Sure, it's a 15,000-mile journey, but McGregor and Boorman had the time to do it, they had a pair of BMW R 1200 GS Adventures to ride, and they had a camera crew ready to follow them and document the trip, so why not? Long Way Down condenses fifteen countries and 1,200 hours of footage down to a story of friendship, bikes and the hardships a road trip exacts on both. Long Way Down screens at 7:30 p.m. at the Regal St. Louis Mills 18 (5555 St. Louis Mills Boulevard, Hazelwood; www.fathomevents.com or 314-227-5500). Tickets are $10.
