There's No Place Like Belleville!

Broadway Center of Arts takes a bow

If you follow the yellow brick road (or Highway 40) across the river, you will find the Emerald City, a.k.a. Belleville, Illinois. Its Ever & Anon Park (East Main Street and Mascoutah Avenue) makes a gorgeous green setting for the stage version of The Wizard of Oz. This play will be the last theatrical production put on by Belleville's Broadway Center of Arts, which has been producing plays, hosting art shows and holding classes for twelve years now. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to show your appreciation for the center and be entertained in the process. The Wizard of Oz begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (August 7 through 9). Tickets cost $6 and can be purchased at the park; be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair. And note: The stage version of the Wizard varies somewhat from the movie, featuring some recognizable characters and some less-familiar ones.
