Gold Minors and Art Prospects

Experienced and armchair art-prospectors alike rush the St. Louis Artists' Guild (2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton) for the 31st annual Young Artists' Showcase beginning Sunday, March 18 — because there just may be gold on them thar walls! Make no mistake, these aren't darling scribbles plucked from Mom's refrigerator door and stuck under glass. It's a gallery packed to the gills with exemplary work from area artists ages 15 to 19. The showcase is a competitive, judged exhibit, and many works will be up for sale, so connoisseurs with a keen eye for the superstar artist of tomorrow have an opportunity to take home a seminal piece of work. Sunday's opening runs from 1 to 3 p.m., and the free showcase remains on display through Saturday, May 5. (Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday.) For more information call 314-727-6266 or see www.stlouisartistsguild.org.
