Sometimes late at night, when there's still work to be done at the RFT, Ms. Day's restless coworkers gather 'round her office (OK, it's a cubicle) to look for any excuse to call it quittin' time. Ms. Day most often will tell stories, but occasionally she'll attempt to regale these wayward associates with a chorus of "Oklahoma!", the title song from the beloved musical. Talk about clearing out the office! (Lady Day is known for many things, but in-tune singing isn't one of them.) Fortunately, though, the paper's chanteuse won't be performing in any way when Shrewsbury's Community Theater puts on Oklahoma! at the Shrewsbury City Center (5200 Shrewsbury Avenue). In fact, the production is sure to be delightful. To hear classic songs such as "The Surrey with the Fringe on Top" and "The Farmer and the Cowman" in addition to Day's closing number and all in tune no less show up at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, or at 2 p.m. Sunday (July 13 through 16). Tickets for the play cost $10; call 314-647-1003 to make a purchase.
