Turn the Page

As enjoyable as solitary reading is (and as embarrassing as it is to be seen crying over the last few pages of Freedom in public -- or, um, so we’ve heard), there’s also something incredibly delightful about sharing the joy of reading with others. Feel the lit-love today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Big Read. This is a can’t-miss festival for bibliophiles, who will have the opportunity to attend workshops (including the St. Louis Publishers Association’s session on “How to Publish Your Book”) and meet a variety of big-name writers, from Missouri’s Poet Laureate David Clewell to Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar. And be sure to bring the young readers in your life, too – the Kids’ Author Tent will feature New York Times-bestselling author Heather Brewer, among many others. And, the Kids’ Big Corner offers everything from pumpkin-decorating to collage-making. The Big Read is free and is located on Central Avenue (between Forsyth and Maryland avenues) in downtown Clayton.
