Dance Dance Revolution

Remember back in the days of yore, when dancing was just something people did in music videos, at parties and onstage, and absolutely no points were awarded based on skill or lack thereof? Yep, those were the good ol' days, wonderful, funny times when "we" didn't have two "I"s and MTV played videos outside of the wee morning hours. Thanks to COCAdance and Redd Williams, who has toured and danced for the likes of Gaga and Beyoncé, those days have returned -- but without the passé fashions and dated music. Williams comes to the Center of Creative Arts for the weekend to present In the Loop, and he and his crew plan to show off sharp hip-hop moves and fresh video-style choreography, live and without the aid of any kind of gaming system. To watch as Williams tears up the local stage, head to COCA (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-725-6555) at 7 p.m. Friday, at 2 or 5 p.m. Saturday, or at 1:30 or 3:30 p.m. Sunday (January 7 through 9). Tickets cost $14 to $18, and they're available at www.cocastl.org.
