Burn, Baby, Burn!

Cooler temperatures mean more blankets on the bed, scarves around our necks, nightly cups of hot cocoa and evenings near the hearth (that is, for those of us who are lucky enough to have a fireplace). But we didn't have to tell you all that, Mr. Snuggly-Wuggly. You're nestled in for the winter with your firewood and your marshmallowy hot chocolate and all the rest! For everyone else, especially those fireplace-free individuals, there's the Green Center's Fall Fire Festival. We'll shake off that chill as we watch belly dancers work out those midsections, jugglers practice their handiwork and fire performers spark some intrigue. A bonfire will be ablaze and warm smiles should grow -- and glow. The fest happens from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the nature center, located at 8025 Blackberry Avenue in University City. Tickets cost $5 to $15. For more information and to make a purchase in advance, call 314-725-8314 or visit www.thegreencenter.org.
