An Unfinished Opera

It's not difficult to see why so many are so intrigued with the persona of Klaus Nomi. From his striking geometric costumes (complete with impossibly sculpted hair and Gaga-inspiring lipstick) to his glass-shattering operatic pipes, Nomi's style was unrivaled in its time and remains so today. In The Nomi Song, Andrew Horn sheds light on the Simple Man, from his career to his battle with AIDS (or as it was known at the time, "gay cancer"). Apop Records (2831 Cherokee Street; 314-664-6575) hosts a free screening of The Nomi Song this Thursday at 7 p.m. For more information, visit apoprecords.com.
