Brian Jonestown Massacre

8 p.m. Friday, June 11. Off Broadway, 3509 Lemp Avenue.

Anton Newcombe's constantly evolving traveling circus known as the Brian Jonestown Massacre was one of the last romanticized rock & roll bands of the twentieth century. Unfortunately, most of that hype was generated long after the band's late-'90s heyday, when it was profiled in the popular 2004 documentary Dig! But after a few years of relative calm, Newcombe has released a string of EPs and a couple of full-length albums since 2008. He even brought some of his original mates (Matt Hollywood, Will Carruthers) back into the fold for this year's Who Killed Sgt. Pepper? That thirteen-song collection continues Newcombe's recent turn toward sonically dense, droning and (at times) beat-heavy, shoegaze-influenced rock.
