King of Wings

Due to extreme weather forecasts, this event has been cancelled. The original post follows. While eating 82,000 wings might not be good for the chicken population, Midwest Wing Fest is great for veterans in need. The annual two-day poultry binge benefits the Disabled Veterans Association. The feast begins tonight from 5 to 11 p.m. when wings from nineteen restaurants and organizations and live music occupy the parking lot of St. Clair Square (Highway 64 and North Illinois Street; Fairview Heights, Illinois). Work off the effects of all that food and beer with the 5K Chicken Run at 7 a.m. on Saturday before returning to the wings and beer. Classic cars, more live music, Muny Kids and the Kids Zone play area will provide entertainment throughout the day. The event ends with a finale party at which the festival's finest wings will be crowned. For more information, call 618-538-7500 or visit midwestwingfest.com.
