Future Islands

8 p.m. Friday, November 16. Off Broadway, 3509 Lemp Avenue.

Future Islands proves its smooth crossbred genre through sensible songs and elements of space-pop. The Baltimore trio expands its sound with warbling synth and guitar, pushing out walls of sparkling sound. With six years of wrenching at the electric altar, Future Islands' backlog comes prolific and dense. The band's latest release, Tomorrow, highlights a lighter approach. Dope Body will open with dingy noise rock, featuring gnarly and disjointed guitars. Taking cues from Jesus Lizard, Dope Body returns from its European tour to yin the Islands' yang. Off Broadway is the proper venue for these noise tanks of deliberate sound. Girl Power: Talk Normal will crash this noisy boy's club with feminine Brooklyn bliss at the start of the show. Expect a spazzy combination of guitar and drumming: Talk Normal hits with dark flair.
