Nights of the Living Dead

Here's the thing about fall: It's basically the most awesome season. The sun shines at a stunningly lovely angle in the sky -- it's like nature's version of an Instagram filter! -- the weather is California-gorgeous all of the time, and the local haunters really have a chance to hit their stride. The native spirits over at Valhalla Funeral Chapel, Crematory and Cemetery (7600 St. Charles Rock Road; 314-721-4900 or www.valhallafunerals.net) are working especially hard on Friday and Saturday evenings (October 11 through 19) again this season. With the help of the Hawthorne Players, some of these folks who've gone on to the great beyond have a chance to tell their ghostly tales during Voices of Valhalla: A Hayride Through Time. Expect to learn about the lives of wild, fabulous, interesting St. Louisans from yesteryear, all of whom have come to permanently rest in Valhalla, while taking in a lovely evening with a photo-worthy sunset (fingers crossed!). Tickets for the non-scary hayrides cost $15, and tours depart every fifteen minutes, starting at 6:30 p.m. To learn more and to make your required reservations, call 314-863-3011.
Fridays, Saturdays. Starts: Oct. 11. Continues through Oct. 19, 2013
