A Special Anniversary Dance

Anyone else find it hard to remember what happened just six weeks ago? The madcap Christmas season was an all-enveloping blur and New Year's came and went in a shot; then very early into the freshly minted annum we got pummeled with a foot of snow and bone-crunching cold, thereby rendering what was left of our memory frozen and comatose. Best revive it fast, though, because it's time to recall what happened 250 years ago -- our swell city was founded in 1764, that's what. Happy 250th St. Louis: A Celebration Through Dance with the Big Muddy Dance Company honors this huge birthday milestone with an evening of choreographic art. The seventeen-member dance troupe fetes St. Louis' origins with the premiere of three new works along with a handful of established audience favorites, and there's a cake and Champagne reception afterward. Show time tonight is 8 p.m. at the Edison Theatre (6445 Forsyth Boulevard; 314-920-5017 or www.thebigmuddydanceco.org). Tickets are $18.
