Dinner Conversations

OnSite Theatre Company has in the past produced plays in a bowling alley, an art gallery and a gym. For its current production, A Prayer for the Gun Bug, the company moves into the restaurant business. Carter W. Lewis has written three short plays that trade in hysteria, and the company performs them at Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant (3210 South Grand Boulevard; 314-772-4442 or www.onsitetheatre.org). The audience watches as the actors, seated at tables nearby, launch into frenzied conversations about their weapon caches, their spiritual rage and/or their frustration with the way things are going. It's all right to eavesdrop (just this once) while you enjoy your meal, just don't try to interject -- not with these nuts. OnSite Theatre Company presents A Prayer for the Gun Bug at 9 p.m. Friday, 4 and 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (May 16 through 25). Tickets are $30.
Fridays, 9 p.m.; Saturdays, 4 & 9 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: May 16. Continues through May 25, 2014
