Monty Python Squeezes One Last Gasp

Tickets to the Monty Python reunion at London's O2 arena sold out in exactly 43.5 seconds and quickly prompted the addition of nine more performances with an assurance that this would be the last time the members would reunite. Billed as Monty Python Live (Mostly) and subtitled "One Down, Five to Go" in honor of the deceased Graham Chapman, the surviving cast -- John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin -- reprise many of their greatest comedy bits, "Lumberjack Song" included, with a modern twist. With Chapman unable to fulfill his Python sketch duties, his parts often fall to Terry Gilliam, who rarely performed in front of the camera, preferring to stay behind the scenes focused on the show's animated visuals. The Pythons' closing night will be rebroadcast to select venues worldwide, including the Landmark Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard, University City) tonight at 7 p.m. Admission is $15.
