V for Versatile

Photography as an artistic medium can be taken in multiple directions. The camera can capture precise reality or manufacture the ultimate in fantasy, or even be made to produce the outer realms of abstract expressionism. Photography V, a juried exhibit open to all artists working in photography's myriad processes and forms, celebrates all of the camera's possibilities. The show's sole juror is Tony Schanuel, an award-winning photographer of great skill and artistry whose resume includes ten years as a staff photographer for Union Pacific Railroad. Railways and the landscapes they traverse just seem synonymous with evocative images, don't they? Photography V opens with a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, at the Foundry Art Centre (520 North Main Center, St. Charles; 636-255-0270 or www.foundryartcentre.org). The show remains up through Friday, November 7, and the gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday.
