Free Halloween Portraits on Cherokee Street

Can't bear the thought of your (totally original!) Antoine Dodson costume going undocumented for posterity? Head on down to Cherokee Street this weekend and the good folks at Cherokee Photobooth will take an awesome shot of your kids (or your wife -- they photoin' errybody out here!) and give you a totally sweet 4 x 6 photo -- free.

There will be candy and entertainment to keep folks occupied while they wait for their turn for the photo magicians to do their work. They'll be shooting from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Lots of local businesses chipped in to help pay for the fun and photography, and the studio also split last month's Sloup grant in a tie with Saturday School to make this happen.

(You know Sloup -- they won a MasterMind Award from the Riverfront Times. Pay ten bucks, eat soup and vote on which art project you want to fund, and the winner walks with the kitty. At last night's installation, arts patrons slurped possibly the most delicious mushroom soup ever from Rue Lafayette at Pig Slop Studios on Cherokee and voted to line Lyndsey Scott's pockets to fund a month-long bike ride and volunteering extravaganza.)

Cherokee Photobooth is at 2637 Cherokee Street. If you need more information, call (314) 546-0826. Run and tell that.
