Jade Hamilton: St. Louis Homicide No. 7; Teenage Girl Shot in South City Park

A 16-year-old girl is dead following a shooting last night in Mt. Pleasant Park (below) in south St. Louis.

According to police, victim Jade Hamilton was parked in a car with several friends around 7 p.m. yesterday when three gunmen approached the group and began firing. Hamilton, of the 3800 block of Blaine, was shot in the neck and pronounced dead at an area hospital.

No one else was injured in the assault, and police say an investigation is ongoing. Although, as Daily RFT reported earlier this month, few of the murders in 2010 involving St. Louis teens have ever led to criminal charges -- much less a conviction.

Anyone with information regarding Jade's murder is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS. Descriptions of the suspects follow:

SUSPECT #1: black male, around 15-16, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, shoulder length-dreadlocks
SUSPECT #2: black male, around 6'0, 150lbs, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and khaki shorts
SUSPECT #3: black male, light complexion, around 5'2
