The plan calls for the elimination of breakfast on weekends and holidays in favor of brunch because "Nobody wants to get up at 5 a.m. to eat," according to Godinez. (I don't know about that, Tony; I can always make time for pancakes.)
Illinois needs to cut 9 percent of its prison spending under the new budget, and eliminating breakfast -- a meal many prisoners apparently skip for reasons that escape me -- will go quite a ways toward also eliminating spending on wasted food.
