Look closely at that Budweiser in your hand. It has a German name. It was produced by Brazilians. Its brand-name used to be owned by the Dutch. But it's distinctly American.
If you're confused, worry not. Anheuser-Busch InBev has launched a new software program called "Track Your Bud," allowing you, dear beer drinker, to trace the roots of that bottle to one of the twelve American breweries that gave birth to it.
To do so, you'll have to download a "Track Your Bud" app to your Smartphone, which'll allow you to scan the QR code on the bottle. (If you don't have a Smartphone, you can punch the bottle's digits into TrackYourBud.com.)
In addition to providing you with the name and locale of the brewery in question, the system will regale you with fun factoids like the King of Beer's seven-step brewing process and the history of the company.
Besides St. Louis, AB-InBev has breweries in Merrimack, New Hampshire; Baldwinsville, New York; Newark, New Jersey; Williamsburg, Virginia; Cartersville, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida; Columbus, Ohio; Houston; Fort Collins, Colorado; Fairfield, California; and Los Angeles.
