Updated Friday, 4:30 p.m: Matthew Pellegrini has since died, and Kevin Beindorff has been charged with second-degree murder. For what it's worth, the post below was not intended to poke fun at Pellegrini but rather point out the extremely peculiar account of how he was shot. Below is an edited version of our original story.
Note to self: Never ask friends for anything. Just kidding, I don't have any friends. And now Kevin Beindorff, 21, most likely is down one himself. According to police, Matthew Pellegrini, 18, was admiring Beindorff's new revolver while sitting in a vehicle when Pellegrini allegedly asked Beindorff to shoot him.
Yes, really.
Beindorff, being the obliging sort, shot Pellegrini in the forehead at point blank range. Shooting him in the arm wouldn't have been real proof of his deep and abiding friendship, I guess.
Of course, police are continuing the investigation, which means they're having a hard time believing some parts of Beindorff's story. I admit some disbelief myself.
