I suppose it's the history major in me, but I can't get enough lately of the Missouri Digital Heritage archives. I stumbled across the online repository a few days ago and have been hooked ever since.

Most interesting (to me, at least) is the Web site's collection of photographs and images. It's a virtual smorgasbord of bizarre and fascinating snapshots of Missouri history. For example, there's the collection of African Americans of Northeast Missouri, Ozark squirrel hunters, and the immigrants of Ilasco, Missouri (wherever that is).

Yesterday the Web site added to its collection images of the construction of the state capitol (above) as well as photographs from Louise and Omar Putman, a couple who traveled Missouri and Kansas in the 1940s and '50s shooting pictures of, well, damn near anyone and anything.
