That's setting aside, mind you, all the reckless people we call "small children" who like to splash around and probably pool-tinkle more often than they complete sentences.
Even worse: the Water Quality and Health Council now says it's "disturbing" that "about 1 out of 8 public pool inspections conducted in 13 states in 2008 resulted in pools being closed immediately due to serious code violations." Daily RFT concurs that that's pretty gross. What to do?
The right pH range for a pool is between 7.2 and 7.8. Because high-school lifeguards apparently can't be trusted/bothered to work with these complicated numbers, the CDC is advocating that swimmers this summer be "Activitist Swimmers." You can order your own test strips here.
