Cool Valley Latest North County Suburb to Employ Speed Cameras

Updated 4:50 p.m. Speeders on South Florissant Road in Cool Valley beware. The city announced today that they'll soon become the fourth north St. Louis County 'burb to employ controversial speed cameras.

"We have three schools, a great deal of pedestrian traffic on South Florissant, and we want to be progressive to make our community safer," Cool Valley police chief Dale Grzeskowiak said in a statement today put out by B&W Sensors, the Sunset Hills-based company that operates the cameras.

Lt. Stuart Andrews with the Cool Valley police department tells Daily RFT that the cameras are slated to debut sometime in October along the 1100 to 1400 block of S. Florissant. Fines for the tickets will probably be the same as those in other municipalities -- $100 per ticket.
