Teens Arrested For Robbing Home of Murder Victim; Suspects Knew No One Would Be Home

Jennings police yesterday arrested three teenagers on suspicion of burglarizing the apartment of a woman murdered just a day earlier.

Brandis McCollier, 23, was found dead inside the apartment Monday in the 2600 block of Tyrell. Prosecutors have charged her boyfriend, Keith Stubblefield, who also lived in the apartment, with the killing.

With McCollier dead and her boyfriend behind bars, the apartment was then burglarized on Tuesday.

Jennings police say that the unit above McCollier's apartment was also burglarized and that officers observed three teenagers -- ages 17 and 18 -- leaving the upstairs unit. Police arrested the teens and believe they could be responsible for over a dozen other burglaries in north St. Louis County.

According to police, one of the teenagers confessed to knowing that the apartment would be empty due to the homicide that occurred there the day before. The names of the teens will be released if and when warrants are issued later this week.
