Fabian Stewart: Homicide Victim No. 39, Shot, Killed In Walnut Park East Neighborhood

There's been another fatal shooting in the city of St. Louis -- this time in the Walnut Park East neighborhood.

Fabian Stewart, 27, is the latest to fall to gun violence and the 39th homicide victim in the city in 2013.

Stewart was found around 10:15 p.m. last night lying next to his vehicle at the 4500 block of Alcott Avenue by Bircher Avenue.

He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, cops say.

When police arrived after receiving calls for a shooting, they found him next to his car; bullets had hit him in his chest and head.

And by then it was too late, cops say.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

At this stage in the investigation, the metro police department has few other details and no information yet to reveal about any possible suspects.

Stewart lived in the Gate District.

Multiple recent metro homicides have involved victims found shot to death by or near their vehicles. Anthony Douglas, 21, was shot and killed last month while riding his motorcycle in College Hill, police say.

And in April, Julius Caldwell, 34, was found lifeless in his car.

Incident: Homicide Location: 4500 block of Alcott Date/Time: 6/06/2013 @ 22:15 Victim: Fabian Stewart, 27-year old black male Suspect: Unknown Officers received a radio assignment for a "shooting" at the above location. Upon arrival, they observed the victim lying in the street next to his vehicle suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and head. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
