Cops: Man Attacks Women with Screwdriver, Another Suspect Assaults Man with Metal Pole

Last night, a 42-year-old man attacked four women with a screwdriver, according to St. Louis police officials.

Cops were called to the Walnut Park West neighborhood in north St. Louis just after 7 p.m. and found four women suffering from injuries apparently related to a screwdriver assault incident.

The women were treated on scene by EMS and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Police have not released any details on the suspect's relationship to the victims, who were four women, ages fifteen, eighteen, 23 and 39.

The assault happened on the 6100 block of Sherry Avenue, police say.

Cops say that the suspect, who they also haven't named, injured the women with a screwdriver "and his hands."

Meanwhile, in a separate assault incident last night on West Florissant Avenue (nearby in north St. Louis), police say that a 48-year-old male -- who was begging inside of a store and was asked to leave -- ended up attacking a 40-year-old male with a "metal pole." The victim, who appears to be a store employee, managed to wrestle the pole out of the suspect's hands and "fended him off using the pole to strike the suspect until he was able to retreat inside the business."

The suspect was arrested without incident and the victim, who suffered a "deep laceration" in his forearm, was taken to the hospital, police say.
