Two St. Louis police officers are lucky to be alive following a chase early Wednesday morning though the Tower Grove South Neighborhood.
Police report seeing a stolen vehicle driving erratically, and later running a red light at approximately 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The car later turned the wrong way down a one-way stretch of McDonald Avenue and crashed into a four-family flat at the intersection of Gustine and McDonald avenues.

When police arrived the suspect was standing outside the wrecked car
and fired multiple shots at close range through the windshield of the
police car. One shot struck a police officer in the hand and finger.
Another barely missed an officer's head. The shooter fled
as the police called in for back up.
Police later apprehended
the suspect, 43. The two offers, meanwhile, drove themselves to the
hospital where they were treated and released.
The names of the officers targeted in the shooting and the identity of the shooter have not been released.
