In case you were wondering, life here in the Show-Me State is rather normal.
By "normal," we mean close to the national average across 31 social, economic and demographic characteristics. That's how Business Insider measured each state's normalcy for a national ranking, released Monday.

Business Insider determined that Missouri is the eighth most normal state according to its similarities to the national averages for household size, birth rate, commute time, racial makeup and more.
Missouri -- ranked between No. 9 Ohio and No. 7 Delaware -- fell at or near the national average for the proportions of people identifying as black, multiracial or some other race. Missouri's rate for the number of people below the poverty line was close to the national average: 16.2 percent in Missouri compared to 15.9 percent nationally.
But not everything about Missouri is normal. White Missourians were overrepresented at 80.5 percent, and Missourians identifying as Hispanic or Latino were underrepresented at 3.7 percent.

The most normal state in the U.S. is Missouri's neighbor Illinois. The only weird thing about Illinois, according to Business Insider, is just how normal it is.
