It's all fun and games until someone gets knifed.
We just couldn't let this one go by. Among the legions of asbestos cases and auto crashes featured in the legal newspaper of southwestern Illinois this week is the following little gem:

A man by the name of Derrick Heidorn has filed a lawsuit seeking at least $50,000 in damages after being injured in a disturbance at a Belleville tavern.

As the Madison County Record reports, Heidorn states he was at the bar around 2 a.m. on September 24 when a fellow patron, Tom Pehle, pulled a knife on him and cut him on the hand.

Heidorn further alleges that Pehle is under the age of 21 and that the tavern violated state liquor laws by serving him alcohol. He also argues that the bar is the site of frequent fights and management is negligent for not preventing such mischief.

Well, uh, yeah. The name of the bar is Shenanigans. What did Mr. Heidorn expect to find in such a place? Old ladies drinking tea?

But, hey, at least Heidorn's not suing for false advertising. Now that would really be a stretch.
