"To the Tuxedo Room!"

This afternoon, after a $1 million buildout and a two-month delay, the Tuxedo Room (522 North Grand Avenue, 314-898-0400) finally opens to the public. The latest addition to Grand Center is right across the street from the Fox, and the restaurant's p.r. blitz is pushing it as the place to eat before or after -- and if Starlight Express returns to town, I also suggest during -- a show.

According to his official Tuxedo Room biography, executive chef Anton Keller was born and trained in Switzerland and has overseen kitchens in several cities, including New York, Miami, Atlanta and Hong Kong. His menu features such classic high-end dishes as lobster tail and beef tenderloin in "Tuxedo Escoffier" sauce and "Rack of Lamb Provencal."

A cool sidenote: During the buildout, workers discovered an actual Prohibition speakeasy. The room will be open to public as the Speakeasy Wine Cave.
