Van Goghz Martini Bar & Bistro (3200 Shenandoah Avenue; 314-865-3345) was robbed early yesterday morning by some pretty unusual criminals. According to the police report, four guys in a maroon van smashed into the front window, only to climb inside and snatch four bottles of liquor. Not money, liquor.

Here's the full report from SLMPD:

Officers responded to the above business after the alarm was sounded. A witness reported seeing four suspects exit a maroon minivan, then entering the building after breaking the front glass window. The witness observed them exit the business and flee east on Shenandoah in the minivan. Bottles of liquor were found to be stolen from the business. The investigation is ongoing.

KMOV (Channel 4) was also able to obtain security video of the break in:

Van Goghz, which opened in 2005, also made a statement on Facebook:

Tower Grove East did see an increase in crime and vandalism over the past few months -- Grove East Provisions had rocks thrown through its windows, and countless businesses on South Grand have had theirs completely smashed. This doesn't seem to be the work of criminal masterminds, though, or even rioters. Just some guys who really, really needed a drink.

Van Goghz is back up and running, through, so stop in and take advantage of its great drink specials.
