Almost a year ago to the day, restaurant partners Mark Winfield and Jim Edmonds -- owners of the Precinct -- announced that they would not be moving forward with the proposed Edmonds Parkside Grill in Clayton. The change of heart seemed to be due to disputes with the building's landlord. Now, a new venture in Kirkwood is set to open next week: Winfield's Gathering Space.

The sports bar will feature "upscale casual fare" (is that as confusing as a "casual black tie" dress code?), a cozy fireplace and outlets to charge your phone at the bar. Executive chef Tony Hilker is in charge of the kitchen, turning out chopped salads, baked rigatoni and a "full barbecue menu" including a burnt ends sourdough melt. There will also be 26 beers on tap, and of course, flat screen TVs to watch the game.

"This is a place where the whole family can feel comfortable and get together to enjoy a great meal," Winfield said in a statement. "Winfield's is going to be a wonderful addition to the Kirkwood restaurant community."

Winfield's opens Monday, January 19 at 10312 Manchester Road in Kirkwood. Its hours will be Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can follow the restaurant on Facebook and Twitter. Here's a look at the full menu:
