Can Gooey Louie beat Park Avenue Coffee in the gooey butter cake battle?
Update: (Wednesday, 12.29, 11 a.m.) A reminder from earlier this month that the Food Network appearance of Park Avenue Coffee and Gooey Louie is tomorrow night at 9 p.m.

Original post:

When Iron Chef America star Michael Symon visited St. Louis in September, he filmed two episodes of his new Food Network show, Food Feuds.

The first, in which 17th Street Bar & Grill and Pappy's Smokehouse battled for rib supremacy, aired in November. (If Gut Check's commenters are representative, Symon's decision was, let's say, controversial.)

The second battle will focus on a St. Louis specialty: gooey butter cake. The episode, titled "Sweet Feuds," will pit the gooey butter cakes from Park Avenue Coffee and Gooey Louie against each other.

The debut airing will be Thursday, December 30, at 9 p.m. local time, with a repeat airing at midnight.

What will Symon's three criteria for judging the gooey butter cakes be? Texture, sweetness and the crust? Help me here, St. Louis natives. What makes a superior gooey butter cake?
