Bolthouse Farms has announced a voluntary recall of sixteen-ounce bags of Bolthouse Farms Carrot Chips for possible salmonella contamination.
According to the company, there have been no reports of any illnesses connected to the product. However, a health official in North Carolina, to quote the recall announcement, "detected the possibility of salmonella in the single16-ounce bag that was tested."
The recalled packages were distributed nationwide and in Canada. The recall applies only to sixteen-ounce bags of the carrot chups with the following information printed on the front of the package:
- a "Best If Used By" date of November 12, 2012, and the codes 04 T XXXX, BF 212 J11 and UPC 71464 17209
- a "Best If Used By" date of November 13, 2012, and the codes 04T XXXX, BF 212 J 12 and UPC 71464 17209
