More on Joyia, the Grove's New Mediterranean Tapas Restaurant

We learned in late summer that Charles Pener is opening a new tapas restaurant, Joyia, at 4501 Manchester Avenue in the Grove district of Forest Park Southeast.

Pener is a partner in Momos Ouzaria Taverna (630 North and South Road, University City; 314-863-5311). The new space was formerly home to the very short-lived Crostini Restaurant and Lounge and, before that, Mia Rosa, another tapas-esque restaurant.

Pener has sent along some more information about Joyia in the form of the informational brochure that he handed out while seeking neighborhood approval for a liquor license.

The restaurant's hours will be 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the bar open till 1 a.m., and from 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Sunday, with the bar open till midnight. There will also be belly dancers every Monday through Saturday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The brochure includes a few descriptions of Joyia, among them:

Joyia is Latin based but very multicultural. It's an expression from experiencing the fullest moment of complete joy, a greater appreciation of life. It's like a treasure or a gem as it equates to a joyous moment in time that define us. The gem in this case is the restaurant; its atmosphere, its cuisine, the joyous feeling you will have just from the experience.

Joyia, an eclectic Mediterranean Tapas Restaurant and Bar, combines the atmosphere and flavors inspired by Greece, Spain, Italy and eastern Mediterranean countries alike.

Joyia's phone number is 314-531-5300. The restaurant has a Facebook page, though it's fairly basic at the moment.
