Orkeed Restaurant (3191 South Grand Boulevard; 314-664-3940) has closed. Though the Middle Eastern spot remains furnished and decorated, a "Business for Sale" sign has been placed in a front window, the phone number is no longer connected, and the website is a dead page.

Orkeed opened only last spring along the main commercial stretch of South Grand Boulevard. It replaced the Bedouin restaurant Al Waha Restaurant & Hookah Lounge, which enjoyed a run of approximately two years at the address.

Before that, the space was the original home of Sameem Afghan Restaurant (4341 Manchester Avenue; 314-534-9500). After a hiatus of almost two years, Sameem returned in a new location in the Grove section of Forest Park Southeast.
