The former Dierdorf & Hart's space at 701 Market Street will become Gio's Ristorante & Bar. The restaurant is the new project from Dominic and Jackie Galati (Dominic's on the Hill and Dominic's Trattoria in Clayton) and partner John Ruggeri (Ruggeri's in Wentzville). ST. LOUIS, MO, September 19, 2008...EVS Realty Advisors, Inc. today announced that Gio's Ristorante & Bar will be opening on or about November 15th in the newly designed restaurant space located off the main lobby of Gateway One in Downtown St. Louis. Gio's will be operated by renowned restaurateurs Dominic and Jackie Galati and their partner John Ruggeri.The Galati's made their debut on The Hill in 1971 when they opened Dominic's, which serves continental Italian cuisine. In 1997, they opened Dominic's Trattoria in Clayton. The Galati's restaurants have won numerous awards including the prestigious national Dirona Award, as well as numerous local awards including 2003 Restaurateur of the Year and the 2001 Dining Hall of Fame awarded by the Greater St. Louis Restaurateur Association.
John Ruggeri is also a skilled General Manager and Chef of fine restaurant service. Most recently, he owned and operated Ruggeri's Ristorante in Wentzville, which was voted best Italian restaurant in Wentzville and the surrounding area. Prior to that, he spent 12 years as the Galati's General Manager and Chef at Dominic's on the Hill, Dominic's Trattoria and Premio's.
Improvements currently being made to the restaurant space include expansion of the bar area with a new full-glass entry off the main lobby, direct access to the patio from the bar area, and a beautiful main dining area facing the Arch. Upon completion of the renovations, Gio's will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The menu will include authentic Italian cuisine and daily specials, prepared with care and attention to details.
