Every week, we'll ask your local record store clerks to advise you on which new releases are worth your hard-earned pennies. Today we cross the river to visit to Slackers CDs and Games, and manager Josh Vollmer fills us in on this week's highlights, starting with the new album from Explosions In The Sky, called Take Care, Take Care, Take Care.

"Explosions in the Sky is the one that I'm really excited about. I've already heard it a couple of times. It's pretty darn good. It's a little mellower than some of their previous stuff, but it still has plenty of the big, sweeping crescendos that characterizes their earlier stuff.

The new Joe Lally comes out today. I'm kinda excited about that. I haven't heard that one yet, but anyone that used to be in Fugazi is okay in my book. What else came out today... There's a new Otep, and there's a Mindless Self Indulgence reissue of their album Tight (renamed Tighter). I'm not really a big fan of either one of those bands, but they have a pretty strong fan-base in this area, and we'll probably sell those pretty well."
