A Place To Bury Strangers July 19 @ The Firebird 8:00/9:00, $12, all ages.
Not since ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead first traipsed around the country demolishing equipment and eardrums alike has a band been on a mission of aural destruction like A Place To Bury Strangers. The Brooklyn group is notorious for its absurd concert volume, but under the sensory overloading feedback hides technicolor pop songs that make ATPBS equally successful on record.
This band is about as aggressive as indie rock gets, as heavy as a group can be without living on a fringe of metal or hardcore. When APTBS reaches its dynamic crests, it makes Sonic Youth look like Raffi.
MERCH TABLE: Pick up a T-shirt ($15), an LP of the band's new album Worship ($15), and a Fuzz War pedal by the band's Death By Audio brand of guitar gear ($150).
