Foals, Freelance Whales and the Naked and Famous Coming to the Firebird

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 23, when a formidable triple bill of Foals, Freelance Whales and the Naked and Famous hits the Firebird. Foals' latest album, Total Life Forever, is a rhythm-heavy release indebted to Talking Heads, although the band's been known in the past for harsher, spiky, post-punk tunes. The Naked and Famous are a buzzed-about electronic group from New Zealand fond of '90s alternative. (The good stuff, such as Massive Attack, Portishead, Tool, Tricky and Bjork.) And Freelance Whales, who charmed many at Off Broadway last year with Peter Wolf Crier, is bringing its kitchen-sink indie back to town.
