East St. Louis' Fresco Kane continues his recent rise to hip-hop prominence with the release of a brand new music video for his latest, appropriately named "Fresco Kane." The song itself serves as an introductory banger and may be one of Fresco's strongest singles yet, while the video plays in black and white and features Kane and his crew partying in a variety of fairly run-down looking industrial areas. Videos, music and more for the So So Def rapper can be found on his official website.

At the beginning of the year we released an issue naming seven local artists to watch in 2013. Fresco, a rising star on Jermaine Dupri's label that has recently worked with stars like Busta Rhymes, was one of our picks. Here's what I had to say then:

East St. Louis' Fresco Kane had one hell of a 2012. A few months after changing his name from the decidedly less Google-able Gena, Kane inked a deal with Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label and released a track featuring motor-mouthed hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes. Trips back and forth to Dupri's Atlanta-based studio resulted in a plethora of material for the upstart-but-not-really to build upon his already-mounting momentum (as Gena, Kane has been active locally since 2006). Then in November, Fresco appeared alongside Dupri on BET's 106 & Park discussing the deal as well as his most recent mixtape, ESTL, featuring more big names like Three 6 Mafia, Shawty Redd and DJ Infamous. Fresco greets frequent comparisons to hometown icon Nelly with enthusiasm: "That's a compliment to me. That man sold so many records."
