Dead Souls

You're on your own, dude.

James Brown, godfather of soul and the hardest-working man in show business, died on Christmas Day, without ever having played Branson. Somehow, that's sad. But he almost made it; in fact, he was scheduled to play shows at the Welk Resort Theatre on March 31 and April 1, 2007, as part of that venue's "Living Legends" concert series.

Unreal has one question and one comment about this ironic turn of events.

Question: Instead of canceling the shows, couldn't the good folks at the Welk Resort simply drop the word "Living" from the series' name and take a page from the Weekend at Bernie's playbook?

Comment: Since the only unelected president also recently passed on, and famous folk tend to die in threes, we strongly suggest that Chuck Berry , scheduled to play "Living Legends" dates on February 16 and 17 , drop off the bills.

Tony Orlando and the Lennon Sisters , who are also scheduled for the Welk next year, will just have to take their chances.
